Slingshot Wake ad

New Ad out by Slingshot featurning Mike Ennen. This came from photo work we did this fall up in Bellingham and Mt Baker Washington. Besides being a rad wakeboarder Mike is an artist and snowboarder, he did all the art work for Slingshot Wakeboards as well as for Jeremy Jones Snowboards. Super sweet stuff.

New Slingshot Ad

New ad hitting newsstands across the world of Eric Reinstra. Was pretty excited the way the shoot came together. Not too common to have winds that are useable when you have clouds like that. Somehow Eric and I always come up with some bangers. He is one of the hardest working kiters I've shot.

Gotta say I'm pretty stoked on the clean art direction Slingshot Gary Huck has been taking the brand towards. Bravo Gary.

Sneak Peek- Slingshot 2012 shoot

Triple 14 hour days- the Slingshot shoot going on right now is a brutal one. I am so stoked on the results however... the talent, locations, personalities make doing my job a total dream.

We had some pretty cool clouds late into the evening our first day... the results were pretty dramatic. In this shot Eric Reinstra rips a fat railey in far eastern gorge secret spot.

Slingshot Peek- SUP

A sneak peak at the new ad and line of Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) developed by Slingshot Sports. The ad will be featured this month in Standup Journal, and marks their official launch into the market.

Slingshot creative director Gary Huck really wanted something edgier than the traditional SUP photograph to set the stage for the company's move. Their brand has long strived to be an innovator in kite, wake, and surfboard design. There is no doubt they will change the way SUP's are perceived, built and used.

A big part of that comes from the fact they are bringing their development and manufacturing back to the United States.

Taking a fresh look at the status quo and aiming to do something different is always a tremendous personal motivator. I was stoked to be asked to be apart of it and am looking forward to developing their image further.

Sneak Peek- Slingshot

There's a new creative mind over at Slingshot. Art Director Gary Huck is redefining the brand. I've seen several of the new comps coming out and they all are amazing.

Here's a peek at the next Ruben ad using photography we captured this past summer.

Dakine Kiter- Eric Rienstra

Latest issue of SBC Kiteboard features a new ad with Dakine.

I'd been eyeing this angle on Mt Hood for a little while. The spot needed morning light and heavy wind to work due to a large wind shadow at the launch. I texted Eric from my bed early after listening to the wind chimes hammer all night, I was surprised to hear my phone ring 5 minutes later. Eric isn't known to be a morning person... but you can always count on his stoke to get out and ride no matter what.

Grabbing gear and meeting up we realized, of course... that neither of us had a working pump. As precious morning light tick'ed away we ripped over to a friend's garage, breaking in to root through some old gear. We found a pump only after it looked like we had totally botched the setup.

The launch itself required a bit of a trek. Passing barbed wire, train track, fecal ponds and blackberry bushes- the beach was one to earn. Made that much more difficult barefoot.

With one sketch launch zone and mega gusty conditions Eric made it happen. We ended shooting sun up to sun down that day. Covering nearly 50 miles of the Gorge. The entire time Eric was at it charging... stoked.

Fecal Creek

I recently went to the southern Oregon coast with the inept kite crew to do an editorial feature for Kiteboarding Magazine. We failed to find any wind but the guys did find a stagnate ditch with brown stinky water and the remains of what was once a bridge. It's funny what one can get excited about when the wind isn't blowing.

New Slingshot Ad Campaign

Take a 30 minute boat ride with Key West resident Sean Reyngoudt and he’ll take you to the end of the world. The place is called the Great White Heron National Wildlife Reserve and it’s a kiter’s dream- clear blue water, white sandy beaches, steady winds and butter smooth water.

Home to over 250 different species of birds (and a few nesting turtles),you’d be pressed to find another human amongst the 200,000 acres of open water and islands.

Known locally as “the Backcountry,” the Slingshot Crew of Youri Zoon, Mira Kwon, Alex Bloechinger, Adam Uyemura, Neil Hutchenson, Hamish MacDonald and Matt Sexton spent a couple days exploring the area, kiting deserted beaches, laughing, sipping rum while looking for the shadowy lurk of nurse sharks.

On our final day I found myself hanging from a helicopter, viewing Youri Zoon doing some island hopping of his own.

The perspective of such an amazing place from above and Youri a part of it in synergistic play was an amazing experience. Nature in harmony. It’s truly the kind of session that dreams are made of.

All of the photography for the new Slingshot ad campaign promoting the new rpm kite came from this shoot. An incredible experience.

Youri Florida Heli Shoot

Here's the video taken by Adam Uyemura from our recent Slingshot shoot in Florida with Youri Zoon. Youri is on the hunt for a PKRA title after blowing out his knee twice. The kid has some serious determination. Be sure to check out my part right about :22 in. At least it isn't sand he's kickin' in my face. Damn the egos and conditions I'm forced to work in to hell. :)

I think I just made a smiley icon- ew.

Will post some shots from the trip soon.
