Gary Linden- Big Wave Surf Hobbit

Great to see the Nelscott Reef Surf documentary the other night and catch up with several of the people who made it happen. One of those people is a little unassuming 61 year old guy named Gary Linden. Gary was one of the first people EVER to paddle into the massive break in 2008- catching not just one but two waves. The smile and stoke he brought back to shore was contagious.

The Find- Claiming Nelscott Reef

There will be a screening of the movie "The Find- Claiming Nelscott Reef", my photography this Wednesday at the Bagdad Theater in Portland. It will be followed by a Q&A and a welcome message to the Big Wave World Tour by Gary Linden. Doors open at 7.

La Perouse Maui Surf Session

Just came off 2 weeks in Maui where I planned to do quite a bit of kiteboard photography. We had a helicopter on standby to shoot Sky Solbach who was up from Margaret River in Australia. As the gods would have it the wind didn't blow but the swell kept rolling. 

Here's a clip of our crew down on the south side on one of the most unfriendly spots I'd ever seen. Razer sharp lava rock everywhere. Sweet to roll up and see two graves at the put in spot as well. 

Nelscott Reef Tow-in Classic

Another successful day for the Nelscott Tow-in Classic. Into it's 3rd year sunshine and an impressive swell revealed itself after some thick morning fog.  The team of Adam Replogle and Alistair Craft won for the second year in a row. 

Here's a couple photos from the morning action from the shore. The stoke thick with anticipation of 30-40 foot waves made everyone just alittle tense. Everyone except for Jeff and Josiah Schmucker from Australia. They were too busy laughing about how thick the wet suits were.
