utaaaaaahhh

Spent a few days down in SLC for the OR show. Managed to swing up afterwards to visit my amigos in Snowbird/Alta, drink some beers at the Peruvian and get the goods. Several feet of snow broke an unusual Watsatch dry spell, blessing my final days there with faceshots and sunshine galore.

Not only were the conditions epic- so were the accommodations. A caretaker friend happened to have room at his house- the Chalet Day Johns. Quite an upgrade for a guy who once spent 7 months living out of his truck in Jackson Wyoming.

Below former roomate Julie Mcintire (post Chalet Isuzu days), finds her nirvana amongst the aspens above Blackjack.

It's times like this that remind me why I'm in the NW this winter.

Rob Haggart's List

I just found my name on the list of outdoor sports photographers by Rob Haggart. A total honor for me to see my tiny name amongst the greatness of Art Brewer, Wade McKoy, Jeff Curtes, Sean Davey and Ben Moon to name a few.

Rob is the former photo editor of Men's Journal and Outside magazine. I knew him briefly as an intern back in my Jackson Hole days.  I was much younger and dumber then... but I have to say that Rob inspired me to achieve something more than just a ski bum life.  More on that another time.

Thanks Rob.

2008 in Review

2008 was a great year for travel- I was fortunate to work in some incredible places with very inspirational people. I feel blessed. I had hoped to post this morning a snapshot from each location but have found I've already put in 4 hours reviewing images. The memories of so many people is overwhelming. The challenge difficult.

I will continue on this task in the next days to come.  In the meantime here's a new year's message from Chamonix, France.
